Sarah Norcross is officially "coming out" in NYC! Though she's been open about her queerness for years, Sarah Norcross has never addressed it overtly in performance. Featuring original songs both new and old as well as covers, Norcross is an evening of mostly music and some stories as Sarah explores the ways in which her music has always expressed the the intimate details of what queerness means to her, the good and the bad of celebrating it, the ways in which she's tried to deny it, and how it impacts her worldview every day.

“The Very Same” is part of the Love Alone Anthology Project, an ongoing suite of dances for men choreographed by Keith A. Thompson and presented by danceTactics performance group. Inspired by the 1988 collection “Love Alone: 18 Elegies for Rog” by writer & AIDS activist Paul Monette, “The Very Same” fuses the author´s stream-of-conscious poetry with Thompson´s contemporary movement vocabulary, and features original music by Dalal Bruchmann & Maesa Pullman. Though written more than 35 years ago during the height of the AIDS epidemic, the outrage, despair, and love embedded within “The Very Same” continues to resonate today.

Keeping Watch

Written, choreographed, and performed by Rush Johnston, “Keeping Watch” is a dance theatre experience like no other. Through dance, text, projection, and song, this solo performance evokes Johnston’s coming of age in the Deep South. Addressing themes of queer joy and grief, poverty, and disability, Rush immerses the audience in their Southern queer experience. Using the church as a backdrop, Johnston takes you on an unforgettable journey through alienation and celebration in the world of “Keeping Watch.”

*Please note that this performance will be presented at the Tank's in-person performance space at 312 W 36th St. All attendees and artists will be required to display proof of two doses of an approved covid vaccination before being admitted to the space. Patrons will also be required to wear masks, when not eating or drinking.
