GREEN is a live performance collaboration between YES Theater and the brand new groovy musical group Grass Future Society. Taking the form of a pared down concert of Grass Future Society's upcoming album GREEN, there will be recycled-mask dancers telling the abstracted narrative of the album, which is essentially about being stuck inside and looking out the window to see the world on fire. (Sound familiar!?) The project is grounded in finding the joy and beauty in community, and to represent the possibility of proving the opposite of the narrative of isolation and destruction.

Think Tank The Showcase is back at The Tank with Season Two! It will be a night dedicated to sharing art with purpose, creating with courage and spreading joy through movement featuring the work of our Think Tank Season Two Alumni Choreographers. Think Tank was co-founded by Taylor DeNapoli (@taylordenapoli) and Adam Wedesky (@adamwedesky). Turning this idea into reality, Taylor and Adam bring in choreographers that come into the space ready to play and maintain an open, positive, safe atmosphere. Think Tank aims to bring the best out of the dancers by allowing them to take a class in a non-judgmental, fun, and most importantly affordable environment. Our mission is to build community, collaborate and create. Life is hard and our industry is even harder, therefore a positive, safe community full of artistic beings is essential. We are the storytellers of the tribe of humanity, so why not come together and create magic!

Inspired by the relationships found in Roxane Gay’s collection of short stories “Difficult Women,” this show (created by KGDDance Founder Katya Danko) explores the female complexities within three of these stories: “I Will Follow You” (danced by Madeline Charles and Taylor Marie), “I am the Knife” (danced by Brittany Posas and Song Ravinan) and “Break all the way Down” (danced by Gabriela Vazquez). Within each story line we explore female identity and nature through the impossible situations and circumstances these characters have had to deal with. The key that links these stories together is one girl (dancer Bonnie Bushnell) who tries to understand her own identity while gaining inspiration from the women within these stories. She will be interwoven in the transitions between the story lines, trying to fit into the “types” of woman she should be. Only after she strips herself of this armor, is she able to free her true vulnerable messy self.
