So you wanna make work at The Tank?
Right now, we are accepting submissions for work at The Tank’s two theaters on 36th Street. We are always looking for unique performance experiences that use our current moment to safely create forward thinking artistic experiments.
The only requirement to submit work is that you must have previously seen a Tank performance of a similar type. For more on each of these options and how to submit, please see below.
The Tank Presents
THE TANK PRESENTS SUBMISSIONS ARE ALWAYS OPEN!
Each season, our The Tank Presents program serves hundreds of emerging artists as they create over 1000 performances of new works in music, theater, film, dance, comedy, and storytelling. As part of our mission to remove the economic barriers from the creation of new work, we never charge our artists to use our space for their performances! In addition, we also provide free rehearsal space, as well as free marketing and promotion of their event. Our The Tank Presents presenting model removes the daunting cost of space rental from the equation of art making, and provides an affordable home for emerging artists to create art that pushes the boundaries of their mediums. Through this program, artists can present readings, works-in-development, short runs of full theatre productions, screenings, concerts, storytelling festivals, comedy shows, and more.
To submit work for consideration as part of Tank programming, please email submissions@thetanknyc.org with the following information:

So, What’s The Deal?
All the work we present must be new in some shape or form, which includes both US and NYC premieres.
We celebrate work that is collaborative, multi-disciplinary, brave and imaginative.
Experimentation and pushing the boundaries within your form is strongly encouraged.
We champion projects that are a force for political and social change. It’s about NOW. And it’s URGENT.
We’ve been bold and free since 2003 and we are going to stay that way: no artist pays to play at The Tank!
We provide all our artists with the following resources and support:
Free performance space
Access to a wide variety of streaming services
Up to 12 free rehearsal hours in The Attic (Our 6th Floor Rehearsal Space).
Artist fees in the form of a box office split and guaranteed stipend model

Fiscal sponsorship (as needed) with a 3% processing fee (industry standard is 6-7%)

The Tank Core Production Series comprises new, exciting, dynamic works of theater, dance, music, and comedy featuring talented emerging artists who are ready for more institutional support while maintaining their own artistic voice. We look for tonally diverse works that share a curiosity about what artists can create in an independent theater model. We seek to collaborate with artists who are excited by bringing their own vision to the stage, who have deepened their aesthetic and are ready to present themselves–unfettered, unfiltered–to New York audiences.
