The iPhone Arias
April 6th at 9:30 PM

An operatic musical comedy about the intimacies of our iPhones.

Composer/Performer: Caroline Hawthorne
Director/Projection Designer: Molly Shayna Cohen
Stage Manager: Kelleen Moriarty
Lighting Designer: Thomas Donohoe

Our phones possess endless knowledge of the world, yet how much knowledge do they truly possess of us as people? One woman questions that as she scrolls through her iPhone, trying to figure out what led to the end of her 7 year long-distance relationship, a love affair that primarily took place through a screen. She looks through her notes app and texts, but continuously finds herself distracted by the wonders and horrors of the internet, whether it's social media, Hinge, or the numerous rejections she receives from residencies, roommates, and potential dates. Combining the oldest form of music, opera, with contemporary comedic prose, at the heart of the iPhone Arias is a woman figuring out how to move on from her past, while also exploring the close-knit bond we've developed with technology.
