Paris, 1860(ish). Aspiring painters Matt and Will are students at the prestigious Académie des Beaux-Arts, the most cutthroat art school in Europe. They’ll be in the Louvre before they’re thirty! Well. One of them will. But that doesn’t matter yet. Right now, they can be friends.
Performed with live drawing and painting, THE DRAW is an all out brawl between two actor-artists. In this multimedia, interactive play, Matt and Will sketch themselves, each other, and audience volunteers in preparation for the great Paris Salon, the exhibition which will make or break their careers—but does success in the art world have to feel like a zero-sum game? With anachronism and paint brush sword fights, THE DRAW explores artistic rivalry, professional envy, and the push and pull between model and muse.
