Sidecoach

Description

Sidecoach is an unscripted theatrical experience directed in real time by award winning director and improviser Kevin Laibson (also known as the virtual/mixed reality artist, Kevin(as a robot)), and it operates on a few simple ideas:

1: People are different around other people than when they are alone.

2: Every uncontrived moment on earth is fascinating.

3: People think in terms of beginning, middle, and end. As such, audiences and players are filtering every offer in that context. That work is already done.

With these three points in mind, Sidecoach puts two people on a stage, an act which itself causes a behavioral change in those people. From there, Laibson makes the players and the audience aware of that behavior, thereby causing new behavior. Through Laibson’s coaching and the audience’s responses, every performance of Sidecoach is a loud and playful meditation, consistently hurtling the audience and performers into the present.

*Please note that this performance will be presented at the Tank's in-person performance space at 312 W 36th St. All attendees and artists will be required to have a covid vaccination before being admitted to the space. Patrons will also be required to wear masks, when not eating or drinking.
