Microcosmitor is a devised object & dance-theater piece created by the performance collective Woof Nova, with Annie Kunjappy, Daniel Allen Nelson and designer Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew. Microcosmitor is Woof Nova’s latest boundary-defying work that transcends our usual metaphysical pursuits to explore the uncharted territory of Biocentrism: where the audience is taken on a journey of elastic scale from the microscopic to the far reaches of the cosmos. This work continues to draw upon our tradition of delving into scientific, non-dramatic texts and theories in order to excavate deeper meanings and illuminate the underlying human connection to the abstract worlds of science and theory. It includes a dense sonic landscape of language and music, an intricate video design, and elements of puppetry to create a world of multiple scale and perspectives. Visual images and stage events, layered with language and sound create a cumulative experience while at the same time evoking an inquiry into the scientific theory that informs the work. With this investigation into the nature of reality and the evolution of consciousness, Woof Nova continues their quest to make real and tangible to the senses those concepts and theories that are normally thought of as too complex and intangible for our everyday lives.
