IRL + CYBERTANK: would you set the table if I asked you to? (Lime Fest)

“would you set the table if I asked you to?” is an action performance that explores the distinction between human and animal. Made up of dance, ritualistic gestures, illusion, and set with the backdrop of a dinner, “would you set the table if I asked you to?” creates an intimate, unique space where the audience has no choice but to become a participant. Actors scream and grunt, they morph between different roles, through different phases, and different states of being human in order to question the binary of human and animal and ask about the subversive, grief-filled shades in between. What results is a dinner party like no other.

Created by Hillary Gao and presented as a work-in-progress showing in collaboration with movement director Marlaina Garcia Riegelsberger.

GREEN (Trash Fest)

GREEN is a live performance collaboration between YES Theater and the brand new groovy musical group Grass Future Society. Taking the form of a pared down concert of Grass Future Society's upcoming album GREEN, there will be recycled-mask dancers telling the abstracted narrative of the album, which is essentially about being stuck inside and looking out the window to see the world on fire. (Sound familiar!?) The project is grounded in finding the joy and beauty in community, and to represent the possibility of proving the opposite of the narrative of isolation and destruction.

$20 General admission
$15 Students (discount only applicable at the door with student ID)

Microcosmitor is a devised object & dance-theater piece created by the performance collective Woof Nova, with Annie Kunjappy, Daniel Allen Nelson and designer Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew. Microcosmitor is Woof Nova’s latest boundary-defying work that transcends our usual metaphysical pursuits to explore the uncharted territory of Biocentrism: where the audience is taken on a journey of elastic scale from the microscopic to the far reaches of the cosmos. This work continues to draw upon our tradition of delving into scientific, non-dramatic texts and theories in order to excavate deeper meanings and illuminate the underlying human connection to the abstract worlds of science and theory. It includes a dense sonic landscape of language and music, an intricate video design, and elements of puppetry to create a world of multiple scale and perspectives. Visual images and stage events, layered with language and sound create a cumulative experience while at the same time evoking an inquiry into the scientific theory that informs the work. With this investigation into the nature of reality and the evolution of consciousness, Woof Nova continues their quest to make real and tangible to the senses those concepts and theories that are normally thought of as too complex and intangible for our everyday lives.

haunted
a new dance-theater performance by aimee plauche

An isolated woman quietly organizes her life around a man that may not exist, or a ghost that might. Unable to leave her home and tormented by a persistent knock on the door, she becomes bound in a self-induced prison, tempted and terrified by the unknown outside.
This solo performance reflects on the uncanny, the demands of a multifaceted existence, and how our greatest desires are buried in our greatest fears.
