The emails are 100% improvised and typically consist of the following: parodies of spam, parodies of self-help, absurd distortions of what it’s like to be a person, and frantic attempts to tell the truth and be helpful. Audience engagement through the online chat have a significant impact on the course of each performance. In its 6th year, PrideFest is moving to CyberTank!
Every year in June, The Tank opens the floor to a wide variety of performances and discussions surrounding the topics of sexuality, gender, and equality. The works presented celebrates this community, addresses challenges that are still faced as we strive for equal civil rights, and evokes or gives way to new ideas and perceptions on how we define ourselves, individually, within our own community, and in the global community at large. Whether through unity or discordance, these pieces aim to shed light on the dynamic individuals and groups who make up the vibrant LGBTQIA+ community.
Over the course of one month, The Tank opens its digital stages to a wide variety of performances and discussions surrounding the topics of sexuality, gender, equality, old battles, and new ways of fighting them. We seek work that
celebrates the queer community,
addresses challenges that are faced as we strive for rights, representation, and justice, and
presents new ideas and perceptions on how we define ourselves, individually, within our own community, and in the global community at large.
Whether through unity or discordance, these performances and discussions, workshops and forums, ought to shed light on the dynamic individuals and groups who make up the vibrant LGBTQIA+ community, and help us understand where we've come from, where we are, and where we can go.
For the month of June, The Tank will be raising funds for Fair Fight. All Tank box office proceeds- with the exception of those for Distant Bodies (more on those proceeds below)- will be donated to this organization to ensure fair elections in 2020 and to end voter suppression, especially for voters of color.
