NADJA LEONHARD-HOOPER (CO-PLAYWRIGHT)

Nadja Leonhard-Hooper is a playwright, screenwriter, and performer from Minnesota. She writes almost exclusively dark comedies that are almost always about animals. She is a proud member of Ensemble Studio Theatre's Obie-winning Youngblood collective. Her work has been seen at The Tank, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Dixon Place, and the Hairpin Arts Center in Chicago. Nadja is a graduate of Vassar College, where she studied drama and political science.  

DAN NUXOLL (CO-PLAYWRIGHT)

Dan Nuxoll is Artistic Director of the New York based non-profit film organization Rooftop Films. Since 1997 he has helped to transform it from a small, all-volunteer seasonal event into the largest outdoor showcase for independent films in the nation and one of the most innovative film organizations in North America. Dan has also worked as a co-director, producer, composer and sound designer for films and theater, and has been named to Indiewire’s Influencers list as well as Brooklyn Magazine’s list of The 100 Most Influential People in Brooklyn Culture. Eat the Devil is the first play he has written.

NICK FLINT (DIRECTOR)

Nick Flint is a theater and film director, actor,and writer. Directing credits: Balls by Kevin Armento and Bryony Lavery, Stockholm by Bryony Lavery, Skin Tight by Gary Henderson, Ride by Jane Bodie. Select acting credits: Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally by Kevin Armento (Drama Desk Nomination & Edinburgh Stage Award), pool (no water) by Mark Ravenhill, The Shape of Things (Sydney Theater Company) The Recruit (Melbourne Theatre Company). TV: Home & Away, All Saints, Love Bytes; Feature Film: Ned, The Tumbler, Regretting Fish. He was a Flying Karamazov Brother and has trained extensively with the SITI Company.

OYL’s mission is to create bold, athletic new works of theater that draw on the power of collaboration – the group, the ensemble, the chorus – to express bold visions of our collective human experience. We are deeply passionate about the artform of theater and seek to inspire the next generation of creators through our educational programs and support of young theater artists.

Over the past six years, OYL has premiered five productions in New York City: Kevin Armento and Bryony Lavery’s Balls, Kevin Armento’s please excuse my dear aunt sally, Bryony Lavery’s Stockholm, Mark Ravenhill’s pool (no water), Gary Henderson’s Skin Tight, and Pamela Carter’s What We Know. OYL has also performed pool (no water) in Boston at A.R.T.’s Oberon stage in 2014 and please excuse my dear aunt sally at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2016.

Recently OYL has received a 2018 Drama Desk Nomination (Sound Design, Balls) 2016 Drama Desk Nomination (Original Score, please excuse my dear aunt sally), a 2016 Edinburgh Stage Award (Best Ensemble, please excuse my dear aunt sally), a 2017 Houston Theater Award for Best Sound; and 2017 Houston Theater Award Nominations for Best New Play & Best Set and Property Design.
